The East Texas Advanced Manufacturing Academy will open for high school technical courses next week, officials said Thursday.
The academy, which is housed in a former Brew Honda dealership in Longview, was previously scheduled to open on Tuesday. While most of the work is complete, Kilgore College and Texas State Technical College are giving the academy more time to get set up for a Sept. 4 start date, Director Jody Sanders said.
A ribbon-cutting is slated for some time next month, he said.
At the academy, 40 Longview-area students will be trained in precision machining technology or instrumentation and electrical. Precision machining technology students will get dual-credit with Texas State Technical College, and instrumentation and electrical students will receive dual-credit with Kilgore College.
